Human Rights are Good for Business!

As part of its efforts to contribute African perspectives to the emerging regime of Human Rights and Business, Africa Legal Aid (AFLA) participated in an Experts Workshop convened by the UN Working Group on Human Rights and Business in cooperation with the government of Canada. The meeting, entitled Non Judicial Access to Remedy was held in Toronto, Canada from 29-30 April 2013. It was the first issue focused meeting convened by the UN Working Group since it formally commenced its activities in November 2011.

The meeting met an important objective of informing the UN Working Group of perspectives and realities from practitioners and other stakeholders. Another key accomplishment of this meeting was the establishment of a network for joint actions for progressive development of human rights and business.
