Participate in AFLA's ASP Side Events

You are cordially invited to participate in two compelling Side Events AFLA will convene during the 17th Session of the Assembly of States Parties to the ICC (ASP).

1. Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, a launch of a special edition of the AFLA Quarterly by the Attorney General of Ireland, the Hon. Séamus Woulfe, S.C. At this Side Event four ICC judges will make brief presentations of their contributions in the Quarterly, including an interview with Judge Howard Morrison by Evelyn A. Ankumah, starting from his work as a school teacher in Northern Ghana when he was 18 years old, and how this has shaped his world view.

2. Complementarity in Action: Bringing Yahya Jammeh to Justice.
Martin Kyere, the lone survivor of the 2005 massacre of West African migrants (including 44 Ghanaians) in The Gambia will provide a personal and vivid account of what happened. Speakers include the Attorney-General of the Gambia, Hon. Abubacarr Tambadou; Fatoumata Sandeng, daughter of slain Gambian activist, Solo Sandeng; Reed Brody renowned for the role he played in supporting Chadian victims to bring Hissène Habré to justice – Brody is bringing his expertise to the campaign to bring Jammeh to justice in Ghana; and William Nyarko, Executive Director of the African Centre for International Law and Accountability - a key stakeholder in the Jammeh2JusticeGhanaCampaign.
