On 30 June and 1 July 2016, The International Criminal Court (ICC) created the new International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA) in The Hague, the Netherlands. The Bar Association adopted its constitution and elected counsel David Hooper QC as the new ICCBA President.
The Bar Association is for counsels and their assistants practising before the ICC. Its main objectives are to protect the general interests of counsels appearing before the Court, to reinforce the full independence of counsels, to strengthen equality of arms, and to enhance the quality of justice at the ICC.
